The University has a Cottage located in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, on the southern slopes of Slieve Croob. Only a one and a half hours drive from Belfast (43 miles) it is an ideal base for residential, team-building sessions or outdoor activity trips – all at a very economical cost. 

Whether your club is getting ready for the season ahead, a group of friends are planning a weekend of study, or your department is embarking on a team building exercise, Queen’s Mourne Cottage should be your first port of call. 

 Accommodation & Amenities

 The Cottage sleeps a maximum of 24 people with two dormitories containing bunk beds – one of which is on a ‘slab bunk’ basis.  Mattresses are provided but users will need to take their own pillows and bedding or sleeping bags.  Toilets and showering facilities are located on the ground floor. 

 The Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering with a small dining area, a kitchen including, one domestic cooker, x2 microwaves, x2 kettles, x2 toasters and a small refrigerator. There is limited crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, you are advised to bring your own for hygiene reasons.  The Cottage is situated 3 miles from the local shop which is in the village of Atticall (opening hours 8am – 9pm).

 An open fire in the living area provides a perfect setting for relaxing, story-telling or simply chatting after a day on the mountains and hills. Fuel for the fire (coal and logs) will not be provided- please bring adequate firewood for your stay.  This then heats the radiators throughout the Cottage.

Parking is available adjacent to the building with space for 4 cars or 2 mini buses.

 The Cottage is available all year, at a nightly charge to University and non-University groups such as school groups, youth & community groups and individuals.
