The indoor facilities based at the PEC are just a five-minute walk from the main campus across Botanic Gardens.
Queen’s Outdoor facilities are based at Upper Malone and are located just over two miles from the main campus and following an investment of £12.5m, this facility is now regarded as one of the best outdoor sporting facilities in the UK and Ireland, boasting a range of synthetic and grass pitches, floodlit arena stadium pitch with seated stand and club house, catering for rugby, soccer, Gaelic football, hockey, hurling and camogie.
The University also has a Boat House located on the River Lagan at Stranmillis, used by our Rowing Club, as well as a cottage in the Mourne Mountains, which provides a great opportunity to take part in hill walking, mountaineering and orienteering.
Queen’s Sport has a proven track record for the delivery of major sporting events such as the European Club Squash Championships (2011), Ulster Indoor Hockey Championships (2011), Annual Queen’s 5K Race Around the River, annual University Boat Race and European Club Hockey Championships (2012).
Plans are well underway for Queen’s to be one of the main venues for the 2013 World, Police and Fire Games and will be the first University ever to host the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cup in the same year in 2014.
